Video: Pink Floyd - Wish you were here
Ok, this may be a stretch for my Space theme but it is from Dark Side of the Moon. Get it? This goes out to my fellow lost souls swimming in their fish bowls!

I have a teeny little crush on Sting. You’ll find me humming this song at the drop of a hat —
You knew this one was coming but have you seen the original video yet?
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove this song. Sing it with me now - nothing’s gonna change mah world -
We’ve been having some goofy weather here in Virginia lately but driving home last night I saw a lovely moon and heard Bowie on the radio - I figured it’s a sign. Ergo, it’s theme week at Hippie Sounds! Buckle yourself in for some groovy way-out music and feel free to jump in with the ones I missed!
A classic. Kind of brings a tear to my eye…
In honor of Mother’s Day, I’d like to share with you the words of wisdom passed down from my fabulous mom, Louise. The woman probably the furthest from a hippie on the planet.
You can pick your friends
You can pick your nose
But you can’t pick your friend’s nose.
How true that is.
And now a little something from French and Saunders
Ok. I have a thing for zombies. Really, who doesn’t? So when I was fussing around YouTube today looking for something fabulous to share I started thinking, “What can I find that has rotten limbs, bad breath and horrible teeth? Hmmmm, Amy Winehouse would be the obvious answer but that’s too easy. How about the Zombies instead?”
Oh stop it. You know you laughed. This one’s for you, Amy!
I looooooove granola. Yes, even the high-fat, bad for you, devil-worshipping granola that you eat with yogurt. Ergo, I thought I’d make some of my own this weekend with the girls and find a healthier way to enjoy it. I found a great blog with a granola recipe and story at Slashfood, make some for your mom this weekend and tell me how it turns out!
2 cups rolled oats (not instant)
1 cup peanuts or toasted almonds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds
1/2 cup coconut (I always use unsweetened, but you can go for the sweetened kind if you’d like)
1/4 cup toasted wheat germ (I often omit this ingredient, as I tend to forget to buy it)
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried fruit (dried apricots, craisins and dried apple are all delicious choices)
scant 1/4 cup cooking oil (not olive)
1/2 cup honey
Mix the oat, nuts and grains in a large bowl. Measure oil into the measuring cup and swirl it around before pouring into bowl. Then measure out the honey in the same, unwashed cup. The oil will help the honey exit the cup. Toss everything together until evenly coated and then pour out into a baking pan. I use a large roasting pan, as it keeps everything contained. A cookie sheet with a lip also works, but you have to stir it slightly more carefully if you use that. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes, turning it with a spatula every ten minutes or so. You want everything to be an even golden brown. When it is finished cooking, returned the baked granola to the mixing bowl, add the raisins and fruit and stir to combine. Stir gently several times as it cooks, so that it doesn’t clump together too much. Enjoy!
